The Ekka's Natural Fibres Fashion Parades, presented by Channel 7 showcase pieces from Queensland designers and aspiring student designers from TAFE Queensland, QUT, and Billy Blue College of Design. Australia's longest-running free fashion parades will be directed by Laura Churchill for the sixth year.
In 2023, the parades featured 14 Queensland designers, showcasing the journey from fibre to fashion and the future of fashion. The Daywear segment featured Baiia, Jericho Road, Nikke Horrigan, Goondiwindi Cotton, and Kablooie. Occasion Wear showcased designs from Ossom, Sinerji, Red Ridge the Label, Bam Loves Boo, and Orange Sherbet. The Student Designs section included a range of styles created by students from Billy Blue College of Design and more. Finally, the parades finished with Formal and Bridal designs by Love Henry, Madi & Pip, Wolf Blonde, Mitch Graham, and Two Hearts Bridal.
In a nod to the Parades’ 30-year history, an anniversary which is celebrated with pearls, the 2023 Nature’s Gifts show shone a light on Australia’s regenerative pearl farming industry.
Australia’s longest-running free fashion parades was supported by Stefan, FRANKIE4 Footwear, and Pearls of Australia in 2023.
