Stories in the Stables

Stories in the Stables is a range of agricultural books read online by our own Farmer Rhonda accompanied with curriculum aligned literature teaching notes for your classroom. The included books connect with our 8 Learning Trail points at Ekka. The online Stories on the Stables book videos alongside the literature teaching notes, present an immersive experience for students before their excursion to Ekka. The supplied questions and classroom activities demonstrate the value of our Australian farmers, animals and land and encourage a deeper understanding of the agricultural elements of the Ekka Learning Trail.

Farmyard Friends Stage Show

Everyone’s favourite farmyard friends will take to the stage in a talent quest full of laughs. Barbara-ann Streisand the Sheep, Daisy the Cow and Milo the Sheep Dog will take to the Community Stage each day throughout the Ekka period. The cuddly characters will have the crowd in stitches as they boot scoot and line dance. Not only will the show be an absolute hoot, the kids will also learn interesting agricultural facts along the way. With the farmyard friends’ unique personalities and crazy antics, this is one show the whole family is guaranteed to love.

Rhonda MacDonald

A bubbly farmer who loves taking care of her farm animals and the produce growing on the farm. You can often find Rhonda out on the field in her tractor, singing while she works.

Milo the Sheep Dog

When he is not out in the fields rounding up his flock or helping Farmer Rhonda, he’s having his coat washed and blow dried or getting in his beauty sleep on the veranda.

Daisy the Dairy Cow

Always busy moo-ving and grooving around the farm with her Holstein herd, eating grass, and making milk. Daisy can be shy, she’s as sweet as can be which is why her farmyard friends love spending time with her.

Hayden the Horse

While his racing days are behind him, Hayden loves getting to work on Rhonda’s farm, helping her round up the cattle and plough the fields.

Barbara-Ann Streisand the Sheep

The staple baa-aa-bbler of the group who loves chatting with all of her Farmyard Friends. Ewe can often find her cuddling up with her woolly flock after a long day of grazing.
